I found it odd that a history of BMW in the 1950's - 1970's could be written without using the character string: "2002". Yes, the author does discuss the Neu Klasse series, but never says "2002" or credits them with bailing out the company. He says they lost money on the e9, but never explains how BMW remained in business during the late 60's - early 70's.

There wouldn't be a 2002 without the Neue Klasse, the response to the 1500 in 63 was overwhelming and allowed them get to the 2002. (I am biased of course!)

Right, but there wouldn't be a BMW without the 2002. The article discusses all the money-losing models (baroque angels, e9's), but says nothing about the cars that made money for the company.
