E9 Sunroof removal

Hi All
My sunroof in my 74 E9 is starting to come unglued and binding up. In all honesty I feel that there were 3rd graders installing this headliner and sunroof liner which is very frustrating.
I have looked for info on how to remove the sunroof and I do not come up with anything useful.
Can anyone help me out with where to find information on how to remove it.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, I have become fairly proficient on removing and installing sunroofs in e9s and 02s. They are the same exact design (the 2002's are little longer). Your best bet is to google the subject for 'removing/installing a sunroof on a BMW 2002' - way more content out there. Here's a great write-up that helped me years ago when I attempted it for the first time.


The first step is to open your sunroof a few inches and pull down on on the headliner piece, which has three of four spring clips holding it to the metal slider. Then you can push that headliner piece into the main roof section and all of the hardware you need to get at will be exposed.
