Someone had posted some pictures of this car and I hunted down the owner.

Still not sure if it is for sale or not, but I am "in line" as someone interested in buying. I am boing to point to a gallery that I think everyone should be able to see. I will post one picture here with permission of the current owner:

Curious everyones thoughts about this car. i am considering buying it.

Two owner, both know they know each other well, friends I believe.

Actually I guess picasaweb only lets me share with google members or via email. So I will find another way to post some of the pictures.

Is it the black coupe in Canada ?

If it is the black coupe in Canada then I saw the big turbo in the flesh at TedFest this year.

Definitely not original, but if you are looking for a quick coupe that would be a strong contender... I hope the front and rear end has lots of bracing on the top and bottom of the strut towers... it may torque steer otherwise ;-)

I didn't investigate it thoroughly enough to provide an "inspection".

Good luck in your quest for the right coupe for you.

I spoke to the owner and builder of the Black Turbo Coupe in Ontario. He built it over many years, did a lot of the machine work himself and put it together to not be too stressed. Seemed to know what he was talking about. Didn't look at the body too closely.

So... tough question, what do you think it is worth?

I am having a very hard time with this one, I have a price and the seller has a price. I am waiting for him to go through his list of potential buyers before he comes to my turn. ( I obviously might never get a chance if one of the 3 or so before me say yes...)

Curious anyones thoughts as to value of a car like this. I know, whatever the market would bear, but I want to make sure I am not being too smitten to think straight.

Thanks

Craig

Have not been able to buy yet, not 100% sure...

Here are some photos I took of your new car. Congratulations!

Hi Nicad - thanks for the post reference.

I have not yet bought it, I am waiting for the seller to go through his list of folks who said, if you ever want to sell...)

I am trying to figure out what price is fair.. a tough one for me..

torque steer and not original

Hi Duane, it might have been your picture that had his personalized license plate that let me hunt him down, thank you.

I just found out the car was originally red and has been black for 20 years, sounds like it is due for a new paint, but I dont think it needs a rotisserie job, especially as a driver.

He does have upper and lower front bracing and front and rear sway, stiffer springs and poly bushings and aftermarket shocks.

It is far from original, but...

Thanks Duane.

Hard to nail down a price range when there are no comparables.

Upper bound: Price should be no higher than building your own equivalent turbo.

Lower bound: Multiply cost of equally nice CS by the ratio of horse power, say a nice 30k$ CS times (350HP/190HP); that is 30k * 1.85 = 55k$

Deductions:
- Paint issues
- not California car
- one black screwdriver
- spare wheel area imperfections
- Do not like the shoulder tatoo of the female model. Clearly not OEM

Interesting pricing model.

What does a new paint job cost these days, in BMW schwarz black?

Thanks!

Black Turbo

Hi Brammo. No I have not driven it, I am going on visual and what I have heard from other people who know the car. It is apparently quite quick. Sorry I can't be of anymore help.

cool car except I think the porsche "turbo" logo cheapens the effort involved and that would be the first thing to go
