Hi guys,

I am looking to buy moldings (7, 6, 5, 1 - for both sides and 4)

They cost a fortune at dealer so I would like to ask you guys is there any aftermarket solution for this parts? Otherwise I would have to try my luck with getting used ones.

By the way how is door molding attached? Some master fill all the holes for side moldings but I am not sure holes were on the doors anyway?

Thanks

What some of the 2002 guys do is get the adhesive backed chromed flexible plastic from Advanced Auto Parts, Autozone etc.

The new CS moldings don't fit correctly you'd be better off with used.

my recommendation is to try to find a set in continental Europe. freight from the US to Slovenia would be horrendous. it cost me about $100 just to ship across the US.
i concur with ADAWIL2002 that don't buy new CS moldings from BMW. i have a pair of new #7's ... and the are so far off, i have no idea what to ever do with them. Perhaps they could be cut to make either #1 or #6. $250 of money wasted.

now for the other comment. you will find that 40+ year old belt trims will not have much of a polish remaining. these are not chrome, they are anodized. the most popular way to refinish them here is to have them polished and ceramic coated. this costs $600 to $800 depending on who does it. i have seen used set of belt trims sell for $200 to $300+ you will also have to source new rubber backed nuts and T bolts that fit in the slot on the belt trim. if i remember correctly its somewhere between 45 and 50, i do not think they are still available thru BMW, but there are OEM sources. I would also recommend buying the shims that Bimmerdoc sells. all of the belt trim are mounted with the T bolts - thru the holes in the body and sealed with the rubber backed nuts. the trim around the top of the door is fastened to the body, but the fasteners are covered by the rubber seal.

Thanks for info! I almost placed order at BMW dealer yesterday....
I will buy this and try how they fit (21 mm wide)

Only concern is how they will cut and how the edge will look like than. Holes for moldings were filled by the master who painted the car :) at previous owner, so i think this will be the best option I will post how it looks when I open thread in E9 projects

Sorry to say but rubber molding covered chrome foil is a bit of a shame to use on cars as nice as the E9. No matter what you do you will see the cuts on the end. Will probably be ok up to 5 meters away but not a route I would encourage. Good luck with the project.
