I assume these are a chrome finish, can anyone confirm? The e3 photo thread showed several with black finish, ours were faded grey and replacements from BMW are unfinished.

Chris from going through a lot of those photos. If you look at: Mensuelle La Rochelle 01/2010 - BMW 2800 (license plate blocked in red) photos for example, the black on the c-pillar grilles matches the black front grille. Where like yours, if you have a faded grey/silver front grille, the c-pillar grilles seem to match?

But if black front grill, black c-pillar grill...... but of course I would normally ask you this question. Just from observation that is what I see and aesthetically makes sense. I didn't see any definitive chrome c-pillar grilles, I think it is just the silver/grey finish depending on age and fade, but no chrome that I could see for sure.

I was also surprised at how many 2800's & 2500's have belt trim..... Old brochures are probably best bet to look at. I don't have any of those but know someone that does. I'll look around for some later at shop. I'll also check old brochures on eBay. Let us know what you find.

I have the 1969 2500/2800 release brochure and can check it this evening when I get home. Of course all of the photography is black and white, but it should give us an idea.

My gut tells me that the C-pillar grilles should have a stainless-type finish like the trim at the base of the pillar, but in a lot of images online they appear to be body color...

An amazing resource

This one has body color C-pillar grilles, and I would trust its originality if it is as presented... with 24 original miles! The only caveat would be if there's a difference between U.S. and European spec for the 2800.

I'm not sure where it ended up, but this was for sale for a long time in north San Diego County for something like $69,000. Big money for an E3, but it is pretty spectacular.

Hey thanks for posting that link, that car is amazing time capsule. Great for reference. I was not able to save any pictures because I'm not on Pinterest. I guess I need to get on that site finally, been holding out. Does anyone have Pinterest that can save the pictures and post to a Shutterfly link or something? I would love to keep those on my hard drive in case something happens to the link. That is really, really interesting to see those c-pillar vents painted Tundra, I would think that is unusual. Would not seem right if a red car or yellow or whatever. I have never, ever seen that before. Thanks again for posting.

Just noticed this was down in Oceanside, that would have been great to go check out, anyone know the buyer? That car should get its own thread.....

Thanks, maybe ours should be Polaris. That Tundra e3 is amazing, if the paint sticker were original it would be in Italics though. (Guess I had to find something!)

I'm still tripping out on that car. If someone doesn't start a thread on it by tomorrow I will. Car porn to the max. Hope the wives aren't looking over your shoulders. LOL
