Ebay L&R Console AC Covers

Look I know there is a supply-demand thing here but we have to stand strong and not be tempted to pay 175 bucks for some plastic bits.
 
I wonder how long it will take someone with a 3D scanner + printer to start spitting these out. I don't think they are covered by copyright as long as some changes are made to differentiate them from the original part. Plus, then they can be made in various colors and they can be made significantly stronger.

Could I suggest a "Kick Starter" type of approach. If a member or friend could be seriously interested in producing, some of us in need could advance some funds ($40 each to pick a random number). The original investors would be entitled to a set when production up and working). The producer would agree to receive a fair payment for future sets. I'm sure someone here would have more familiarity with "crowd funding" approaches.

I had one scanned but the parts scanner is entry level. The STL file is really crummy. I'll post a pic to illustrate. I need to ping Stan to see if we can mold them. I would think that this would be an easy job for his tail light contact.
 
Reproductions?

I think I have worked out how to reproduce the console AC covers with the texture intact. I have ones that I have been told are from an E3.

Does anyone have a nice straight-on photo of a confirmed E9 model they can send me? One side will do, I just need to get the length and shape of the small end.

I have one that I can measure for you. I'll take it off the console this evening.

This is what a crappy parts scanner will net you btw...

these are e3 grills, and are slightly different to the e9 grills..they will fit , but there will be a very slight gap at the bottom..if they where e9 grills mybe $175 is ok (in the context of e9 parts,if that makes sense) but I would think unrealistic for e3 grills ... On saying that if they get that price I will put my e3 ones up !!;-)
