Hi all, any one got any pictures or info on the way the EFI fuel pump go's back together?, the plat that the pump spins in can go in a few different positions, any one got any ideas??

Thanks

Steve

You got me a bit confused here what exactly do you want to know? Fuel injection pumps don't come apart they are sealed for life.

No gazzol

pumps can be opened up if you release the crimps. Not saying that this is a good idea, but if your pump ist kaput, there's nothing to lose but your time. Doubt that they're worth anything as core returns, and they're expensive to purchase new.

Have seen a discussion of it having been done, forget where.

I was talking about the pump itself (not the electric moter) the end of the pump comes of with 4 or 5 screws making the vane and rollers accessable.
It was the plate that the vane and rollers are housed in that I am talking about

I've never taken one apart, but I have been told if they are noisy and they rumble they are worn out. I don't think individual spares are available.
One way to "test" it when you have it back together is to run it on the bench and suck diesel through it (safer than petrol) and see if it works ok
Swap the plate around if it doesn't.
You should be able to calculate the pumps perfromance in terms of cc/min as well to see if it's in spec.
If it's stuffed you could replace with a modern Bosch pump and retain the expansion tank.
A pump off a roughly equivalant engine sized car will work fine. Old Jag XJ6 springs to mind re size, Holden, Ford, BMW, Volvo etc should provide in your part of the world if your not too concerned about originallity

I also had my EFI pump apart. At least the aluminium housing (strange design inside) Anyway, my pump was stucked due to 20 years of storage and now it runs again (with a new sealing).
I have some problem with my camera, will try to explain instead. When mounted the inlet should be at lowest position i.e. towards mother earth.

I'll stand corrected on this one then, i've never seen a servicable efi fuel pump before though, The only type I've ever seen are the crimped type which aren't worth the bother of trying to undo.
