Mr. Spleen says that the video clip is a poor spin on reality.
A milestone in 1972 and then nothing? A milestone to put a few lead acid batteries in series? They discovered Kirchoff's laws I guess. And then build 2 prototypes? Break the sheikhs' 1973 oil embargo two cars at a time...
The public demonstration at the 72 olympics shown at 1.23 into the video has the runners behind the car because they were pushing it!
Battery innovation was driven by the laptop industry, not by recalcitrant auto makers.
Like the blogger below notes, Ferdinand Porsche was doing a hybrid in 1901, please.
