Electric Choke question

I'm sure this has been covered before but I can't seem to find the answer (in plain Chinese). I have 2 wires (1 each) coming off the electric chokes and then joined together and I need to connect them to a switched power source, so some say run it off the (+) side of the coil. If you have 12V. running to the choke full time while the engine is running would that "overheat" something or does the choke stop drawing power once it is open? Also, will taking juice from the coil potentially reduce the coils' power to the distributor. Electric stuff is a weak spot for me so any help would really be appreciated.

Under my forward carb on the bottom of the manifold there is a "sensor"? with an electric spade coming out- what is that for?

That's the kill switch.

Not the idle solenoids, under the front manifold is another coolant sensor for the chokes.

Hi David, I found that plug- where do I connect the choke wire to (which position)? and is it simply plugging it into that or is there something more?

Another way of asking- is should I find 12V. in that block that's switched and then connect the choke wire there?

Take a wire with a female connector on each end (from Home Depot or where ever). Looks like the attached image.

One end goes on the choke tab and the other slips down into one slot on that factory 3-lead connector. Do the same for the other carb/choke. Each can go into its own slot on that OEM connector you found. One of the leads on that 3-lead OEM connector is ground so dont use that one. I think its the shown as having a green lead in my photo.

With the ignition switch on, but the car off, hook on the lead to the choke so you can see how that bimetal spring in the choke works--it will help you when you start to tune the carb.
