I need an electric fuel pump for my 32/36 DGAV Webers.

I've seen the Carter P4070 mentioned, and I'm inclined to buy that one, but I'm unclear about the need for a fuel pressure regulator. Some posts say they are necessary, others say don't bother...

Any thoughts, tips, recommendations, etc. are very welcome.

Thanks.

Use a low pressure pump intended to feed carburetors with a regulator. Pumps flowing fuel at higher pressures and volumes for fuel injection systems require a return line and without that return line can overheat, sieze, and/or make a lot of noise in the way of humming and vibrating.

I run a Facet fuel pump mounted in the trunk that feeds a Holley low-pressure regulator in the engine bay.

You looking to have 3psi into the carbs IIRC.

Regulators are unnecessary if you have the proper, low-pressure fuel pump. As others have written, 3-4 psi is about right for carbs. If you install a higher pressure pump, then yes, you need to regulate the pressure down to that 3-4 psi range.

I use a stock BMW in-tank low pressure pump out of an early injected car. It puts out about 3# and runs my Webers just fine.
