I replaced the ground strap off my battery, cleaned connections to and around lights up front, and then replaced the dead horns--all works like a charm. But now the electric side mirror won't respond. I think I traced the wires and don't see anything obviously askew. It is a 74. Anything obvious I might have screwed up?

NM. Embarrassing. Slight sliver in the fuse. I thought they blew more noticeably, but should have used reading glasses. Dammit I’m getting old.

But anyone who can’t find it on the diagrams, it is fuse #5.

Hi Jay,
Your fuse had gone bad NOT because you ran too much current through it !!!!
Do yourself a favor and replace all of the fuses ! Use a brass soft brush and clean the end Cooper tips of the fuse holders! You will save yourself a lot of grief , time and money.

It is still amazing to me on how many times I have run into issues like that and I overlook the fuses. If you decide not to waste the good fuses at least clean the Copper tips on the fuse box!
What happens is when small amount of corrosion builds up on the fuse holder tips the weakest connection is where (not visible) corrosion has started and each time current is going through the fuse that section gets hot (I call it micro welder) over time the metal tip of the fuse become so weak and in fact has little to no continuity which is not visible, you can’t even see the disconnect unless you remove the fuse and inspect it closely...

Any ways my two cents !

Best wishes!

As always, excellent advice, & I leaned something new. I replaced all the fuses a couple of months ago, but I didn’t think to clean the tips. I’ll add it to the list!
