Electric Sunroof Headliner

Hi Guys,
I am fairly new to this forum and not very active member. However, I need some help with regards to the sunroof headliner. I believe I am missing is a part where the headliner sticks to... please see attached picture. I believe it is part no. 3 on the diagram attached. Would anyone, specially the guys who have sunroof in their cars be able to tell me what is that part and which material is it made of and is it possible to buy one or make one?

#3 is the vinyl headliner material . You will need to try and find a match to the rest of your headliner if that panel piece is missing .

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. Yes, the panel piece where the headliner material sticks to is missing. Any clues of where will I be able to find that piece? Or can I get it custom made if I know what material the panel was made of, the shape and the dimensions?

The flexible plastic headliner is part 03 in the diagram. There is not a solid piece that the headliner sticks to. The headliner is stretched and attached at the edges. I haven’t had mine apart yet so others can add more detail as to how it is installed.

I just had a 2002 one apart that |I put a new headliner onto, they are all basically the same. the framework that the headliner is glued to is #4 in the diagram, it is a thin metal frame work, quite flexible No fiberglass parts in there headliner, frame , sunroof panel and seals The hardest part maybe finding matching material to what you have in the car. You can check with World Upholstery There has been lots of discussion over proper material for headliners Do a search and quire a bit will come up

....it's a bit "academic" as to whether it's one part number or not given the metal frame etc is NLA ( no lonnger available ) . If you have all the metal components you probably just need the headliner material together with new felt & rubber seals .

I am missing the frame parts as shown in the attached picture. I was told that I would need it for the sunroof to close properly. Therefore, I needed to know what is the frame made of and its dimensions so I can get it made if it is such a difficult item to get?

#3 just means that at one time long ago all three parts could be purchased as one item.
