Hi!
I would like to fill the hole in my front left wing with an electrical antenna. Was there any original brand on the E9 for antennas (like Hirschman) in the seventies?

I've study a lot of E9 images and there is a similar appearance for the antenna. What kind and also "lookalike" brands on other cars (at junkyard)?

The manual masts that were supplied by US dealers via Max Hoffman were Hirschman units. I suspect they were the same in Europe. Hirschman electrically retractable antennas were supplied on just about every mid-1980's to early 1990's BMW (Mercedes, too, I think) in the US. I don't know what you'll find in continental junkyards, though.

It was usually located on top of the rear wing to allow enough room for the motor (it's pretty big) and to protect it from moisture. The electric motor unit is not water tight, and will fail rapidly if it gets damp. If you do find a motorized antenna, be sure to grab the antenna-specific cable that goes to the radio.

Putting one in the front wing of your coupe would be a challenge. If there does happen to be enough room, perhaps you could fabricate a moisture proof box around it. I'm not even sure that a period radio will provide the signal to raise the antenna, but the input on the antenna cable end to radio looks the same as a manual cable. Might be worth a shot, but unless you relocate the antenna to the rear, pursuing a manual antenna might be the best alternative.

The electrical antenna is mounted in the hole (done by PO) in left front wing. Looks really nice!
I use Lokari inner fenders, but still moisture could be a problem. I have the winter season to find a proper solution for that.

But my question is regarding my radio "Blaupunkt Bamberg" that I found in forgotten box included spare parts. The radio seems to a really Hi-tech piece from 1970s. The radio got a automatic search for radio stations!!!! but I cant figure out how to preset the radio stations. Anyone?

Below a picture on Bamberg I found from a radio collecters site......
