I took the following pic when I disassembled the center console but I can't remember where that eyelet at the end of this group of brown (ground) wires attaches... Any help?

Must be a 1974 thing Don't see that on my 2800CS
in my car found those fixed with one of the screws that holds the central fixing plate of the lateral console assembly, this way you earth the whole lot
definitely a '74 / late '73 thing with the newer type switches. i agree with deQ, check that hex head bolt in the upper left of the pic.

damn, you have those nice multiple pin connectors .... we , poor 2800CS owners, have to do it with 6 mm spades....

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter where it gets attached as long as it is a grounding/earthing point. But I would have liked to use the same one as the original point which, by the shape and stretch of the wires, seemed to be towards the front of the shift selector area. Bottom of the picture above. But I definitely could be wrong there.
