I've (almost) quit looking at those, it kills me I haven't bought one but I too have flat run out of room

yes and a better cam ... then upgrade the terrible stock suspension

I have had a couple of these and on the second one I rebuilt the suspension. Talk about easy. Just a few pieces and a couple of strut braces and the car is transformed. If I owned this one, I'd find a perfect dash (Not that easy) and redo the suspension and have two sets of wheels on hand.
When I was 18, I bought a 1971 for $1400 (they were asking $2000) but that was all the money I had. When I got it home, all proud of it's beauty I asked my older brother if it was possible to cover rust if the car had new paint? The undersides couldn't have had any rust because it was covered in fresh tar.
Haha
In 1978, this 1971 car was very, very rusty, so much so I had to replace the frame. Other than that it drove dead reliably for three years looked amazing and was my pride and joy till I sold it for $1400 and bought a Corvair Corsa off the same Brother.
New price prediction with 2 hours to go

$17550

the trade...

My brother (the smarter, talller, prettier one...) received a full ride to UNC, so mom and dad bought him a new early 72..orange as Oct 31st. Chucked the hubcaps and added a straight exhaust. He graduated in four, and was headed to law school, but Uncle Sam thought he would prefer warm and lovely southeast Asia. So he went to language school (Czech) in Monterey (yes, that one) instead, and we traded cars for a year...he took my 72 Riviera 2002 to NorCal, and I stayed home and cared for the Z. Woohoo. Fast, light, and tail-happy. Made of old Kirin beer cans. Way too much fun for a high school senior. Lucky to be alive. Also no room for one now.
Still looking for a Fred Snook BMW of Monterey license tag surround, tho...
