Engine compartment clean up

Spent the last few days cleaning the engine compartment, happy with the

Really nice! Did you yet add an inline fuel filter to your CS engine? Most of us have, on the firewall. Is yours well hidden?
 
The fuel filter is routed and zip tied to the tule that comes from the fire wall and hold the brake booster, you can see part of it on the phot, ( silver part center of picture)

Was there when I purchased the car. It appears to be a warning regarding the sequence and torque to be used on the cylinder head bolts.
 
WOW is right. Love the "muffler".
The valve cover sticker came on factory replacement engines, indicating no re-torque required, a change from previous requirement.
Could be used when head gasket replaced using the new procedure but rarely was.
Are you running a well-hidden breather catch can somewhere? Carbs are amazingly clean.
 
So my car has 58k original miles, so it was not super dirty, I did take the engine out to do a valve job and replaced all Gaskets and seals as well as the freeze plugs on the block, I used simple green to remove old oil build up ( front main seal was leaking), once I got everything nice and clean I used Meguiars Hyper dressing to give it a bit of shine. the Carbs were cleaned and rebuilt by DeQ, I just keep them clean and shiny. As for the breather yes I’m running something I installed under the car, and maybe it’s my imagination but it seemed to help the engine fumes I sometimes smelled while driving. I did find a receipt for a new cylinder head installed by the BMW dealer, so I’m guessing that is when the sticker was installed on the valve cover, the block is original. These phots were take the day I purchased my coupe, November 2009, I found the car I a garage in Los Altos California were it sat un driven since 1993. Thanks for the nice comments

Now I see it on your crankcase vent port. Is it an open system and so vents out under the car?
Has anyone else experienced lower fumes by installing catch can? I could benefit from that.
My EUR has no EGR and so only the crankcase port venting into the air filter housing - I think I should instead go with a catch can and also lose the hose from the exhaust manifold dumping heat into my air filter housing.
 
I did Just that, its vented to a small catch tank and to the atmosphere ( the EPA I'm sure is not happy with me ) but as I said it seemed to help with the fumes from the engine, and also after all the work tuning my Zeniths I didn't want hot air with oil residue going into my carbs as it turns into carbon.

Thanks for the nice comments, yes the location of the fuel filter was a bit of a head scratcher, I am familiar with the decanter type filter as my other car is a Jaguar XKE which uses it. Thank you for the suggestion, it is definitely something to think about.
