Very very nice Aussie. What type of sound deadener did you use on the top of the strut towers? And did you you use it elsewhere on the body?

How have you treated the metal surfaces of the inlet runners, cylinder head etc? I.e. have you painted then with something or are they bare? I've found that the aluminium parts, if left bare, stain very quickly so I've been using aluminium colour caliper paint.

Gazz, yes, I wanted to try to minimise ongoing maintenance/cleaning of "bare" parts . Firstly, cleaned thoroughly with kerosene and then used VHT engine enamel which you probably know is available in most auto parts stores . Colour is "aluminium". I was told that it helps to put the metal parts in the sun to heat up first as this supposedly enables the paint to bond better. I was fortunate to have Wally ( "Mr Jakarta") Siswadjii organise yellow zinc plating ( and chroming )of smaller parts in Indonesia at a fraction of the cost of that in OZ . Regrettably, he cannot fit bumpers in his hand luggage :-(.
