After a reasonable search for engine mounts, I seem to have discovered that the mounts available today have the little alignment nubs only on one side. Whereas, the old mounts I removed from my car have alignment nubs on both sides (and the subframe and engine bracket has holes for the same). Does it matter? If you use only the 1-nub version, is it better to nub up or nub down?

The shape is uniform so I dont believe there is an orientation. I just thought the nub helped hold it in place and stopped it from moving left/right/rotating. That's my intuitive sense.

The ”nubs” must go in the rear hole of the mount.

What this tells me is that:
1. It is okay for the mount to have only 1 nub.
2. Use the mount with the nub facing up.
3. Orient the nub in the rear engine bracket hole (thus positioning the engine more aft).

Thank you!

A year ago I was flown 15,000 miles round trip to find out why a e9 coupe engine could not fit in the engine bay with a radiator and fan.
It was the mounts installed backwards.

Given time you will see so much batshit crazy stuff.

the guy that rebuilt a couple of my motorcycle motors told me someone brought him a bike that when running smelled like burning wood, he took it apart and someone had made a wooden piston

I remember seeing newspaper stuffed inside cavity of rusted out camaro quarter panels and bondo over it. Other cars also.

a different motorcycle mechanic told me he worked at the Ferrari dealership in the 70's
sometimes they would have to cut open inner fenders to get out wine bottles workers put in
