Engine number question

Any one shed any light on this strange engine number?.
I purchased it around 7 years ago been sitting in the corner and I thought I’d check the engine number and it looks weird.

Oh and came with auto box still attached

3.0 liter factory replacement block, the A means remanufactured. 01 0: The 01 could mean January and 0 means 1980/90/etc.
