I have previously read a few threads about the inevitably missing engine bay undertray, but can't find them now. I think i read that it is still possible to buy one from BMW (51471811948) but that a few better options exist out there. I think I remember that the dealer tray was basically just cardboard/ hardboard and so oil leaks and water from the road damaged them quite quickly.
I think I saw some potentially better aftermarket options. Looking to investigate what options I have, as I'd like to reinstate it.

Cheers

Good stuff, that's two options. Will check both out and let you know what I opt for

Thanks for info

I bought the OEM piece a couple of years ago and coated it thoroughly with a rubbery undercoating spray product. Holding up well so far, and the engine runs a little cooler.

thanks Don,
does the OEM tray come with everything needed to fit? (bracketry-wise I mean, not the screws)

Looking at one of the other options it says that brackets are not included)

cheers

Brackets are part of the tray and it comes with hardware as well. It might some trimming to fit properly. We bought one for the 2800 and it’s going to take some work to fit.

Fit was perfect on the factory piece for my 74 euro coupe. Came with all the hardware. Recommend you open at the dealer to check condition. Coated mine with something. Holding up nicely after three + years. Steve

Mike, you told me you had to do some fettling to get it to fit. I tried on the 2800 and it is going to be harder to do for sure.
