Engine/Vin ID Check Please...

Can someone tell me what car this engine (currently residing in my 2800) came out of; 3100311

thanks... so a US spec engine I presume.

Yep, US spec with manual gearbox

That would explain the 4spd conversion... must have been a complete donor.

Hmm, assuming E911 now has his question answered, (so I don't hijack his thread - but this fits under the same title) I have the same question about an engine I am contemplating. It appears to be a '91 m30b35 and it has this number on the flat part by the starter: 40070289. On the coupe it would be the car serial number but this sure does not look like one.

Any idea what this number would mean?

007 - Serial number
0 - Munich
289 - Day of production

Should also have another number/letter sequence underneath. Being an E34 B35 motor it should read 34 6K B

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for that info. Unfortunately I did not see any other number "underneath" I will have to go and check it out in more detail.
