Euro 2.5CS as valuable as 3.0CS

Gentleman,

I have been wanting a coupe for sometime and came accross a pretty decent 1975 2.5CS (Euro Model) which I am very interested in.

My dilemma is that I was looking for a 3.0CS. Would a Euro 1975 2.5CS be as sought after as the 3.0CS?

From what I can tell, all is the same as CS except for of course the smaller motor and brakes.

Although I want the car for me. I want to make sure that the future value and desireability is there as well.

Thank you all in advance for your comments and suggestions.

Regards,

Ross

Ross,

They are pretty rare in the U.S. and made in a smaller quantity (600 stick, 244 auto) but it would fetch less than a 3.0CS in comparable condition. Many like to upgrade their engines to 3.5 spec and I guess you could do that here as well along with a 5 speed but brakes need to match. The interior didn't come in leather I had heard but that can be fixed as well. What kind of shape is it in and what are they asking? It's still a coupe so your biggest concern should be rust and how much of it exists. Lots of coupers in LA who could check it out with you.

Euro = good
Rare = good
Smaller engine = good for the wave of M.E. dictators shaking like leaves and oil prices spiking up soon :)

e9 2500.

Yes why not, they are among the last e9s produced as a result of yet another oil crisis.

Value of euro 2.5L E-9 vs others

One item of the original sparse trim--read steel wheels of the 2.5 that came standard--can be replaced with original 14" turbine alloys that came as standard equipment on the non-oil crisis 3.0 CS, CSi and premium E-3 models.

The 2.5L was a nice short stroke motor that revved freely--just a little light on power @ around 150 HP as I recall.

f.w.i.w. the 2.5 liter power curve is about the same as the 3.0's, just not "as much." You can use a 3 liter crank to get your displacement up to ~2.8 liters, but the power curve won't change too much unless you add 2800 pistons w/ higher compression...THEN you get the fun wind-it-out motor that 2800 owners keep secret (oops....)
