Harry, aka Koopman was kind enough to hunt down a Europa II for me, can someone identify/define the wiring shown. Thanks.

How do those wires go into the radio? Pic is fuzzy and a pic of back of radio would be helpful. Are those going to the DIN jack?

Thanks for the links, I will go through them.
Nope, all wires exit radio back together, sheathed in outer grey plastic, then braided steel , cable was cut with a foot left and I unsheathed the end. No DIN plugs on the back of the radio. There are separate ground and power lines in addition to these. One of the blue and the yellow wires are smaller caliber than the others. Perhaps L/R speaker and antenna? I am restoring this car to original incl only the one dash speaker which does have a DIN plug but the radio is not the original radio.

I just saw this from sfdon's link: "The Becker Europa, Mexico and Grand Prix models exist as one-unit and two-unit versions, that is, with an integrated amplifier or a separate one. The separate amplifiers were mounted on the firewall "

The gray cable may actually have been severed input to the amp an I don't have the amp (image from sfdon link). I have reached out to a member who has one installed to get the details.

Yes it likely goes to the amplifier box. You should have power and antenna inputs on back of radio. Need pic

Image of the back of the Europa II. I think I am missing the amplifier box on this so now wondering if there is an alternative to that so I can still use this radio.

Don’t think it can function without it. They show up on eBay sometimes. Contact these guys:

or Becker Autosound

Would need to know pins are correct once you have the amp

Show these guys your radio:

Thank you for the extensive legwork and insight/knowledge. I am not clear if these radios were offered on the E9, meaning would there even be a mounting point in/near the glove box? Markos, the cable you show, matches the wiring I have so I will need a DIN for mine to start with.

Just called Becker Autosound in NJ and there is no substitution for the amplifier.

Mine came from dealer with Becker Europa stereo and cassette player in glovebox. No amp bracket but they are available also

I think I have room under the dash since I have no AC. Worst scenario is the glovebox. I have a 72 Bavaria and this 73 Euro E9, both with a single speaker, no modifications of any kind.

The amp mounts up in the left side of the passenger footwell/firewall, just right of the console. Here's a pic, above the foam piece:

Thank You for the image, on my car I see no mounting site there but can figure something up.

So here is a question. I can purchase a correct cable to link to the amplifier and I can purchase an original amp. Alternative, a company makes an adapter that can be used with a Europa II that has rca cables so I can use an aftermarket amp. There are mini aftermarket amps, like 4 x 4 x 1.5 inches mostly for motorcycles but with enough wattage to run either 2 or 4 speakers. This is actually a cheaper route but not by much. What say you all? I should add, I am not a big music buff in the car and besides, I have nice systems in my other cars and actually like to live in the past when driving these cars anyway.

The radio doesn't put out enough wattage to run to a regular power amp. I tried. You need to find a special power amp that will accept very low level inputs. I run the stock Becker amp through line attenuators to a power amp. Doesn't sound great, but sounds period correct!

I purchased the cable. Sounds like I need to purchase the becker amp over aftermarket. What "auxiliary" amp did you buy and how did you run it through the original amp?

Sounds like Becker was the "Apple" of their time. "Only our stuff works with our stuff". Captured audience.

Take a look and let me know what you all think, I am guessing NO, I may call the place that makes this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Becker-Ste...reo-485-and-Becker-Grand-Prix-MU/302830515212
