I'll be installing AC on the coupe this summer and would like to see if someone whose coupe body shell is relatively bare could please measure for me where the holes are punched on the firewall or post a picture clearly showing where the holes are. Thanks in advance!

It's in the Blue Binders, Sec 64 50.

For posterity, those dimensions in the manual correspond to E3s not E9s (see the 4 screws that hold the glove box hinge? E9 has 3 not 4). E9 isn't even close to those dimensions. I'm measuring the hard lines now and trying to punch the holes in the correct spot based on the hardlines dimensions and position.

While I have things out for my Motronic to Megasquirt conversion and hydraulic brake assist to standard vacuum, I thought I'd take some pictures of the holes from a factory AC installation on a 1972 e9, which should be the same for most e9s.

The picture of the right side firewall show the holes that were used for the red braided cloth hoses (one thick, one thinner) to the evaporator inside the car. I combined both holes together to make one slightly oval hole, now filled with the Motronic wiring harness. The picture in the lower front splash wall shows the oval crimped opening where the two red hoses go to the condenser.

Luis, you should also have a mounting bracket for the AC drier that would help you with those three exact hole locations.

No Don; thanks. The hole for the smaller, high pressure line was there from the factory covered with a plug. I punched the larger one for the suction line right below it. Pictures and details coming later.
