I need to replace my exhaust tip. I have adapted the end to 2 1/4'' as to give me options.
Originality is not important... looks, durability and classy-ness are. I always have felt the standard tip looks a bit, I don't know, cheesy. Wadda you all think? Single, Dual? I realize this is hugely subjective but am wondering what others think on this and get some ideas.

Agreed! I've always felt this too. Many of the coupes I've seen have bad surface rusting on the exposed curved part of the exhaust pipe. The bigger 60mm pipe and tip of the early coupes do look better than the slimmer 55mm version. Too bad the 60mm units are NLA.

Would have preferred dual exhausts like the MB big coupes (3.5 SE) and the Pagoda SLs of that period. Would have required some metal modifications around the spare wheel well, but that should have been no big issue.

60 mm exhaust tip in S/S

Are availabe at Mesa Performance. 800-221-6372 local 949-642-2150

The tip is a little shorter than the original BMW chromed brass--have personally compared it to my original tip--is actually a Porsche part--but looks and works fine.

Easy solution to unsightly rusty end of exhaust pipe--clean up and shoot with Wurth zinc primer.

60mm curved exhaust pipe was available back in the day but unfortunately, it is NLA. Somehow, that extra 5mm in diameter visually appears much bigger than the 55mm exhaust pipe.
