Definitely have your brass one fixed. You can take it to Seattle Radiator. Otherwise, you can fix it yourself with solder and a propane torch. It's the same a 'sweating' copper pipe. There are lots of youtube videos on the process. I consider myself pretty poor at soldering electronics but pipe work is easy.

Which year was the last for the brass tank?
I believe that they all had brass tanks inlcuding the '75. @HB Chris would know for sure. The thought is that they all started leaking and were replaced with the plastic ones.
Plastic was probably cheaper and they were found in e12 and e24.
73 got plastic. $50 is what i paid for sandblasting and resolder.

Brass tanks can be easily soldered, if you are so inclined.
