Hi, I've (yet again) started to get my car back together. This time I've stripped all the bog deposited on the al doors. The door skins seems in pretty good condition so have no idea why so much bog was added. But I want to make sure that the shape of the skin is close to what they should be in case I need to work the al into the correct shape. They are currently both flat to slightly concave in the middle - most other cars' doors are more convex in shape.

Can someone please take a picture of their door with a level/straight edge against it vertically. I should be able to see the approximate shape of the door from that.

thanks, Bryce.

thanks very much. I'll now have a go at comparing your door shape with mine. Just to confirm original shapes... Is your door in original condition?
cheers, Bryce.

Bryce,

Yes, my door is original. If you need measurements just let me know.:)

some measurements off the level would be perfect - save me guessing and reforming the door skin wrong. It's taking years and $$ so far so would like to get the door shape as correct as possible (without thick layers of bog.....)
cheers, Bryce.

Thanks for the translation!
I've just had a look at the car door again and would also appreciate a picture with the level held horizontally at the swage line just below the door handle. I'm needing to see if the gaps (from the level) are the same at the front and rear of the door. cheers, Bryce.

Your welcome on the translation!

Sure thing. I'll do my best to get back to you tomorrow.:)

Hey Bryce,

what chassis number is your csl?

Any pics of the work in progress?

Regards,

Rohan

Door profiles with measurements

If the measurements are hard to read, just let me know. The interesting one is the horizontal with crown/ peak.

Best of luck!:)

Thanks very much for these pics - I'll be having another go tomorrow at seeing how "corrrect" the panels are.
cheers, Bryce.

Hi,I'll have a look tomorrow at the car to get a vin, but current pics won't be worth while as it's mostly wrapped up to protect it from other projects in the same shed.

CSL vin

Finally got around to replying... sorry I took so long. the vin is ....269. It started in the UK, made its way to CA and is now in NZ.

I have too many pictures and have learnt to be careful with pictures they can look dangerously convincing! When I've finally reassembled it I would have owned it with 3 paint jobs - due to too many people doing half jobs on repairing rust - but at least this time I know it's done properly and 100% rust free and apart from a skim coating - free of bog.
