I've noticed at least two different styles of alternator brackets for E9s. It appears that one moves the alternator farther from the block. The bracket on my CSL requires that I use a Gates 9430 belt, which measurs 1100mm (I'm assuming that's diameter) or 12.5 inches. When I tried to install this same belt on my project car it was too big. Does anyone have information that would lead me in the right direction to finding a belt to install? It's obviously smaller than 1100mm. I can make pictures of the alternator brackets to compare them visually if that helps.

I just realized that I should clarify. This is the belt for the alternator, not the one that goes from the crank to the PS pump. Neither of these cars has PS as they are CSLs.

I soon as I hit "submit" I thought, "I'm gonna get a comment from someone informing me that not all CSLs are non-power steering. :?

Sorry for my imperfect language, I perhaps should have said, "both are CSLs which happen to have manual steering boxes". Everyone ok with that?

I recently went through a " what size it" senario for my project.
I ended up buying three different sizes so I had a range and tried them out to save going back and forth from the local auto supply and then returned the ones I didn't use.

I ended up using a Continental 1055mm x 12.5/13mm from a local BMW shop.
