How hard is it to replace the blower motor for the fan? Sort of looks straight forward even to an inept mechanic like me, but I don't know what I'd be getting into.

It comes out from the cowl side, you remove the metal shield from the cowl and the fan is right there. As I recall that one is pretty easy save that the wires to the fan motor are really short, so it's tough to reconnect them. A pair of forceps can help, or just make jumper wires.
