After a 12-hour drive from Portland to the Bay Area last night, the coupe is in the garage. Unfortunately the front bumper, grill, headlights and windshield are caked with goo from squashed bugs, so it's time for some serious cleaning. Hoping to avoid using water, I went out and purchased a california duster and some Meguiars quick detailer/spray cleaner this morning. Went over it with the duster first to take care of any loose particles and avoid scratching the paint. Next came the spray but it wasn't as effective as I'd hoped, and left greasy streaks in the small area that I tried it on. Time for a damp rag or are there other "waterless" products that people recommend?

It's OK to wash your coupe but use a lambs wool mitt and dry with artificial chamois and wipe up any water in the firewall area where it collects. Detailer won't get the nasty stuff in my experience.

As long a you are not filing up cavities with water, I see no problem using suds to clean off the outside. I don't plan to wash my car often, but when I do, I will use three buckets (Soap, rinse, and clean rinse) and a minimal amount of water. I usually use a water blade followed by a micro fibre towel. Go for a drive for sure. Wish I could.
