Hello, I’m case it’s helpful I recently fitted a new windscreen to my E9, helped by my friendly mechanic. I read some threads first for tips and the prevailing wisdom is to start with the bottom of the screen in first and work up, using the traditional cord method to pull the rubber into place.

We tried that twice and as people had said the screen kept popping out. So we tried top in first and it slipped in like a dream, to a point my friend’s pushing and thumping on the outside wasn’t even needed. We used a ratchet strap as one owner had recommended which did seem to help.

Anyway, perhaps we got mega lucky fitting the screen this counter-intuitive way, but a win’s a win .

Thanks everyone for this forum’s amazing help - it’s been invaluable to me.

Cheers Chris

Well done, she looks beautiful. !
In what way did you use a ratchet strap?
I’m just wondering as I too will be replacing my windscreen soonish and any helpful advice would be great.
Did you use a new windscreen rubber seal ?
Again I’m wondering as I will be replacing mine too
Do you know if the walloth and nesch gasket is good ?

Hiya. I used the ratchet strap horizontally, round the outside of the screen and the A pillars into the cabin, about halfway up - difficult to guess the tightness you can get away with (was sweating in case it cracked the screen!) so be careful
