a new alternator from bmw gaved me the problem of a very accussed misalignment of the two front belts (alternator & steering drive)

the cause was due to the silent blocks present in the new alternator, so i fabricated a new aluminium block to substitute the rubber silentblocks, also upgraded the central screw from 8mm to 10mm (M10)

compare standard available silentblocks (left) with aluminium block (right)

please help, comments !

any comment on the increase of stifness that the aluminium bushing will imply (compared to that one of the rubber silentblocks) ?

any increase of wear of pulleys, alternator elements,... expected ?

i will appreciate the comments

I've had a solid mount alternator on my daily driver Bav for a couple of years and I haven't noticed any wear or unusual treatment of the system.
