Fixed rear quarter windows

Yes, my set up is not 'stock/OEM', but looks the part. Its definitely lighter.
What would you like to know?

Hi Shannon,

Did you use any of the "Fixed" OEM parts still available or just work out a bracket (s) arrangement that kept the glass in the stock runners and gaskets? This wouldn't be a permanent change - I'll keep the power units in storage.

Any pics you have would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you're gonna do the conversion, the difference between the glass and Plexi is not that great, the weight savings is in removal of the regulator assemblies. Those are boat anchors, times 4 doors!

I got some CSL Plexi knock offs some years ago, and mounted them using the existing hardware holes. Trickiest part is holding the window up as you bolt it all together, get an extra set of hands and use a rubber mallet to tap it up into place.

Don't really feel like disassembling the window trim to take some pics, sorry.

HTH and good luck. Its easy.

I use tape to hold the window in place while bolting windows in place. Top of glass to upper frame.

Thanks Vraned,

I'll have a look at the windows latter today but is is bracket part of the assembly or something you made?

Gerrit Blankman in Germany - see his website nmldepot.de (I think) - makes a perfect reproduction of the bracketry from the CSL fixed quarter window cars. CSLs had both fixed glass and fixed plexiglass rear windows to save weight. Regulators and motors are boat anchors like the fellow said.
Gerrit is very honest, reliable, and the quality and accuracy of what he does is absolute.

It looks like Gerrit does a first rate job. Those seats are beautiful. I reconstructed the brackets from my 2.5CS, which had almost completely disintegrated. I wish I had documented this a little better, but this was all I could find from my notes:

Making the captures for the nuts was a PITA. You might be able to pick off the relative hole locations from the electric window regulators.

interesting thread ... now where to I source the plexiglass windows - at a fair price?
