I need some inspiration as to what to fit to my e9.
On my e3 the factory fitted fogs where just perfect but the e9 mmmm not sure.

So: Oblong or round?
above or below the bumper?
it would be nice if members could post some pics of their cars with the various options.
Thanks!

Round above the bumper. My car came with period correct fogs which had not been wired, now of course they work. The pictures with the lights on are pre-air dam.

e9 aux lights

Nice!
Oddly enough the parts manual shows oblong lights above the bumper inboard of the main lights whereas your are round.
The e3 has them, oblong and below the bumper under the main headlights.

What to do!

Under bumper use rectangular, above bumper use round, 6" looks best I think. Be prepared to loose a lens or the whole light if under bumper, more susceptible to rocks and such.

andrew, i have a question,
are those fog lights, or driving lights ?

+1, but could be regional.
I recall only yellow front fog lights, at least in north EU at that time to be period correct.

Andrew, first pic was great. Done by a pro, or a amateurs great luck?

Cheers

I have 5 1/4" vintage Marchal 642 spotlights. I put a yellow bulb in them to look cool and have some contrast but thats a personal preference. I like them because they are a little smaller than the headlights and most other fog light sizes and take up less grill/bumper space.

CS with squared, yellow fog lights under the bumper. I like this "look" most of all.

WOW so what's with the convertible? Was this a prototype? Where did you get that shot? Porsche supposedly experimented with some convertible prototypes (I'm referring to early 911's), seems to be up for debate every time one comes out of the woodwork. What is the story on this one? Forget the fog lights!!!!!!! Or is it just a bastard?

@Golfbavaria,

BMW never built an 3.0 CS cabrio. Karman did one prototype. All the other were done by individuals or by e.g. Sima.

Coupe is all about round/rounded shapes. The only square element in mine is the driver.
I vote for round, and that kind of eliminates fog lights that have to be mounted as low as possible where rectangular fits better. Per DQ let form follow form and use a fog horn when it is foggy but keep lights pure.
