1. How long has it been there?
2. Is it recommended for androids?

I looked it up and the software company added the feature a few years ago. Not sure it's always been there but the app has been around.

I installed it, appears to be nothing more than an app button for your wallpaper. Basically a hyperlink to the same thing.
