Happy New Year

Started a bit of New Years cleaning today, and found a tube with 15 identical chrome strips. Part #51-13-5-781-105, with original parts labels. I think they are one of the side moldings. Any ideas? About an 1 inch wide and maybe three feet long

Your part #

Physical description does sound like a section of side molding--but mystery--it doesn't appear in my 11-75 edition of the orange parts book--are you sure of its being an E-9 part and that the number is accurate?

The part number also doesn't exist on the mobile tradition search engine for any model.

Unobtanium series-obscurium CSL-only (door panel?) trim. 30% lighter than normal and never sold enough to homologate, hence no remaining/existing reference in part number directories.
Worth 50 bucks each.
Ask for a thousand smackers each 8)

Looked again, as my dyslexia may have kicked in. Part # is 51 13 5 780 105 Orange Bmw Teile label. Took it out of it plastic sleve and it looks like front fender belt trim. Same lenth as my 2000cs, which I believe is the same as the 3.0

Uh,still doesn't show up in Orange book,OEM and Max.If the last digit was an "8" however,it would be the number for the molding "screws".

The E9 nose and front fender/wing is longer than the 121 fender (so the 6 cylinder will fit), so if that's the application, the trim will be too short to fit an E9.

are they the lightweight alloy or chromed brass?

The front fender trim is not the same for 2000CS and E9s. The 2000CS part is wider.

The rear quarter pieces are the same, but the door pieces are tapered in width and the front fender and nose parts are also different.

If you want to sell a pair of the 2000CS parts, I'd be interested.

The strips are very light, must be polished alloy, strange to see trim with no scratches or imperfections straight from the package.
