You never know what will be waiting for you around the corner when driving around New Hampshire and Vermont. Bear? moose? deer? Nope, came across these poor critters this weekend.
This one is housing a hornets nest where the engine normally sits:

This one was being used as a green house before a tree fell onto the back end:

I didn't check them out too closely - I had a feeling that I was being watched from the nearby shack (and the hornets weren't too happy about me either).
In spite of the beautiful day, the roads were surprisingly empty.

Hi Steve,
When I saw that you replied I thought you were going to say that you saw these - they're sitting off Rt.5 at the edge of Fairlee. Someone at work told me that there are a couple of "old beemers" sitting on Rt. 132 towards Randolph, so on my next adventure I'll go out that direction to see if I can find them.

I did not see them this summer which was only a quick visit unfortunately. Looks like they need to go to the town dump - which is in the same spot on Route 5!

OK, I got permission to reveal more photos and info of my local adventures. I hinted at meeting a new coupe owner in another thread. His name is Scott and he restores cars that I can only dream of ever seeing in person. His restorations have won at Pebble Beach but he's a very down-to-earth guy who likes old bimmers.
So, it started when I was stopped by a gentleman out riding his Moto Guzzi who told me that he knew of someone else who has a coupe just like mine. He gave me directions to a shop and since I was out exploring, I ended up there. Yes, he had a coupe and a lot more. These are a couple of the cars that he is restoring for his clients...

My cell phone was dying because of the crappy coverage up here so I was not able to get photos of the other Bugattis!

Cool, I hope he joins here, I knew one of his family members "back in the day" and would like to meet him next summer.

Specifically ,where on Route 5 in Fairlee are these cars? Sad to see the early Saab 900s. I had an '79 EMS which I loved.

Wasn't there a big Bugatti collector/restorer in Orford? Last name beginning with W?

Mako, on my next weekend in the upper valley, I'll look you up during my early morning romps. I must have gone right by the "graveyard".

hi tod,

the sad cars are about 2miles north of the intersection of rt113 and rt5 - officially, its probably thetford - if you're travelling north, they're on the left across from a timber operation. if you get to the sharp left turn, you just passed them. (just follow the hornets)

about the bugs - "w" lived down the road from me in Lyme. Amazing what he had:
