No, not a "leak free radiator" - a "free leaky radiator".
I noticed my radiator had a slight leak. Pulled it, and could see signs of leakage where the core joins the left side tank (see white stains in pictures #2 & 3 below). I was going to have it soldered, but Mesa Performance quoted $300 for a new Behr part, and I figured repairing it would probably cost half that and wouldn’t last as long as a new one. Plus, when I stopped by my local radiator repair shop they had gone out of business (bad karma).
This radiator was new around 1996, and doesn’t have a lot of miles on it. Someone clever with solder could probably repair it, though I can’t guarantee how long before it springs another leak. Or, the side tanks could be used to put a higher capacity core in an e9. Or you could dump some Barrs StopLeak in it, and it might last another 14 years.
My plan was just to recycle the thing, but before doing that, I thought I’d ask if anyone wanted it. I'll give preference to someone able to pick-up it up in San Juan Capistrano, or at Cars and Coffee Irvine. It weighs 18 pounds boxed, so it would cost a few bucks to ship from zip code 92675.
