Just installed the first of my new parts today. Nothing fancy, but it looks very nice. I bought the BMW underhood insulation from Mobile Tradition. While it was expensive, it is done, went on perfect and will last a long, long time. Anyway The paper backing is an exact template of the insulation for those that might want to roll their own. I will send it to the first guy that wants it, then I ask you to send it to anyone else who shows interest. It will save you some time if you were to make your own and it will be exact.

guys, whoever gets this ... send it to me and i will draw it in autocad and anybody that wants it can get a full size pdf.

Scott, Wayne is an engineer and offered to make a PDF. More information on the forum is great and I am impressed with your commitment on the trunk panel work. DO we need any other templates?

i need the side trunk panels, my car just has elephant skin applied to the inner fender. so i definitely need to get those pieces. i am going to make templates for the door panels, the rear parcel shelf, the trunk panels (under the lid) ... i was inspired by deQuincey.

when i get the pdf of the insulation pattern, i will draw it too. i'm also going to draw the arm rest, the bottom dash panel, the trunk floors ... and whatever else. that way whoever needs something or want to remake something they will have a head start. i just want to start with good panels and compare them to original panels.

i will handmake my rear trunk panel, and will look for somebody to laser cut or cut w/ a CNC router (if that is possible). if i have the templates, we could remake whatever parts from the autocad drawings.

Are there trunk side panels? My elephant skin is also applied directly to the inside fender and I think it came that way - I've never seen panels...

interesting - when i looked at deQuincey's post on the rear panels that he made ... it looked like he made side panels + put the elephant skin on it. but in looking at the pictures, i did see the belt trim bolts poking on the skin. didn't Stan post recently that he needed to remake them because he had deleted the side markers?

You'd have to get new elephant skin if you dont want to see where the markers were - my markers were removed and I have holes in the original skin. Maybe his old skin was too roughed up to make a template to cut a new one from.
