Front air dam (spoiler)

Not sure how that would look on a street car? This one is the wide version to work with the early bubble flares. Very cool for a vintage racer... pre-factory CSL look.

Thanks - that looks exactly the same airdam! Looks less bulky.. Might go for it.

Cheers for pic!

Thks - remember this post - was very interesting - Love reading about individual history of old cars.

The airdam looks the same! less rectangle shaped vents I think - unless light shade... not sure...

Have ordered alpina airdam already from Jaymic as looks much prettier to me than bulky traditional CSL Gob-Stopper!

Cheers

I just bought an Alpina style airdam from Coupeking for just the same reason. It was a little pricey for what it is, but I really like the look it will have.... aggressive, but more tucked in than the CSL.

Try Zaprace...

I can recommend Zaprace (UK) for this piece (the picture is of their wide version for flared cars- they make the narrow version also)... excellent quality and very easy to work with. Good communication and reasonable shipping to the States.

This exact air dam is on my car. Also I found Jaymic to be great to deal with.

rb1971 . . . great looking car! Judging from the lack of cutouts for bumper brackets it looks like you are going bumper-less on the front. Is this the case? If so, do you have any pictures of the fully assembled car. I've never seen a photo of a road car with only this airdam and no bumper and i'm curious to see what the final product might look like. Also, do you recall approx. what the shipping (to the US) ended up being from Jaymic?

Here's the (sorry) only pic I have right now of the car reassembled with the air dam. I'll take a pic tomorrow morning and post that as well.

You're right - I'm running the car completely bumperless and had the shop cover the holes with new sheet metal so I suppose there is no going back.

Oh, and I don't remember the cost from Jaymic, but I bought a number of parts all in one go.

Pics look great! Like the car bumperless - looks like car is about to attack!!!

Seems the Alpina front airdam from Coupe king is different style than the Jaymic one - both look better to me than the CSL original style spoiler. Jaymic airdam is US$250 - not including shipment or VAT. Coupeking seem not to have anymore listed.

Also would like to buy some fog/rally lights for my coupe - wondered if anyone knows which ones to get for E9 and where - Hella lights I think?

Same pricing from Zaprace so it comes down to who you want to get it from. By the way, it's my understanding this is an Alpina design spoiler as well (street version is more commonly known) and was used on the early Group 2 cars... others on the board will know more/can confirm.

By the way, I have a full set of early "bubble flares" from Zaprace that I may not be using if anyone is contemplating making an early track car or hot rod.

Beemer70 . . . although not listed on their website the "street" alpina spoiler is still available from Peter at Coupeking. Just email him and and i'm sure he will help you out. I contacted him several weeks ago about getting one but I couldn't come up with a cost-effective way to ship it to Vancouver, Canada where i live (was hoping to have a friend pick it up on his way through LA but his schedule didn't permit it).
