Finished shots of the seat belt mods in my car, much neater and more modern looking and they feel much more safe than the old roof hung method.

No engineering cert yet but I feel confident that they will pass inspection......

Inspiration from Paul Cain's car, more details in my posting history ( how to etc )

i have been toying with doing something very similar. i am planning on using the front belts from an e24 which have more of a stand-up part on the front part of the belt (above the front bolt). so first question, i understand that you cut the body to put the reel in ... what did you do to brace the body for the bolt of the reel and for the bolt that goes thru the wood? these would be the stress points if you really needed the belt in a crash or other incident. large washer behind the body? welded or just bolted?

sounds familiar

did this in 2012:

"hi

i had very badly worn seat belts, so for some years i tried to find a new set everywhere, but the seat belts that I was founding were no good, most of them made in china, or very expensive NLA+NOS ones usually only or RH or LH, but never both altogether

...until i found these people located in the UK three months ago

an incredible set of period correct inertia automatic seat belts with aircraft style chromed buckles (homologated in UK for cars older than 1972)

you choose the colour of the belt within a wide range, and you order them, its 5 or 6 weeks to get them done and shipped to you, kind attention and help from these guys

easy to install,...and not really that expensive

...e voilà !

i was trying to keep the inertia wheel out of sight ... the e24 unit isn't that pretty (not finished) ... but with a black interior, it might not be the end of the world if it wasn't.

Inover- LOVE the carpet color- that must be a "downunder" color- I don't recall seeing that on this side of the swamp.

its looks like a square weave ... kind of a reverse to the deQ approach - blue carpet w/ light gray interior ... fitting to have them within the same thread) ... also goes along with the replacement of the embossed vinyl on the door / side cards.

Lovely neat job John, Pawel at Quickfit is hitting me up with a set ;)

Thanks guys for the comments,
The carpet was from German https://www.cabrio.de/khm/en and the colour was a personal choice I thought it would look good with the black leather and the timber and also worked well with the exterior colour.

The thread for the seatbelt resto can be found here.....sorry don't know how to 'show thread' but can be found under the title of ' The Paul Cain Seatbelt Mod ' should show up in the search function.

Cheers. John
