front Bilsteins don't match

as i removed my old BOGE shocks i see the nut is "M48" , the Bilsteins have M50.
W&N sells them for all models..... ??

Or did a PO changed my sthruts from another model ??

Anybody aware of that ?

Now going to BMW dealer to found out...

Our big brother BMW found nothing .... they ever had Boge & Bilsteins but nowadays nothing more !
Parts store does not found the Boge #... so nothing to even start ...
W&N has the M48 types ! perhaps 10 mm shorter according their explanation.... that we could correct with a 10 mm washer in the bottom of the strut... i send a pic and asked for more info... tomorrow we will know more...

damn, oldtimers are fun :D
 
just ordered the M48 Bilsteins at W&N.... they are from early E24 according W&N.

2800CS is from '70.... so struts must have been changed over the years ... surprize :)

edit... i never measured the drivers side.... that is M50! so i have mixed struts....
with the eye it's very difficult to see that difference... sure with my old eyes :(

For the moment not Chris , i will have tomorrow also a M48 set shocks , so i install one from each set to get my deadline ... ( rally on 14/15 april )
Later i can see what ... perhaps i can leave it that way ? i will even have a spare mixed set ! :)

W&N told me it's also Bilstein they send me now with the "same" stiffness... will try to "feel" it before install.
