Hello guys, I have a quick question.
How and where do you guys fit your numberplate? Because I dont want to drill my chrome part on the bumper, thats why I am asking. Double sided tape I am not sure if will hold enough well, that I dont loose my numberplate. Any other ways?
Appreciate for your replies!

My CSi came with the center bumper drilled. Can add an air dam and secure it to that.

Euro bumpers have 2 holes in the middle section as seen here in the W/N page as it is compulsory to have both, front and rear number plates, centrally placed. Would be odd if your bumper doesn’t have them, if it’s an original BMW part. The number plate was attached to this type of number plate back up shield which was in both chrome and black.

I fully agree with you. Having to run a front license plate which detracts from the beautiful front end of an E9 is bad enough. Drilling holes in the bumper to accommodate a front license is a terrible thought.

Here in Washington State in the US, we only have to run a rear license plate IF we have a special "Collector Car" registration or utilize a "Year of Manufacture" license plate. We are lucky.

In your situation, the best I can think of is to use 3M Super Strength Molding Tape. It is the only double sided tape that I know of that has a strong enough bond to securely hold the weight of the back up shield and the number plate without worrying about it falling off. It can be removed, if necessary by cutting the foam with dental floss and working the remaining residue off the surfaces with your finger. Perhaps secure the number plate to the back up shield (as shown by Keshav) in the normal fashion then attach the assembly to the bumper with the tape.

Thank you a lot! I'll try to do this way, hopefully I won't loose my plate number.

Do you. Have the stock holes on the underside of the center section? If yes, you can make a bracket that holds the plate BELOW the bumper and attaches via those holes.
