This was made by an E24 forum member a while back, it is an E24 front plate delete. I believe BMW had made them a while back but NLA. Is there and E3/E9 equivalent? If not, I want to use a euro plate so any recommendations on website for a plate? Plenty of them but want to know if anyone has one and is happy with it. Tx

I used these guys for the custom plate on my 69 W114

I wanted to do something similar for my Bav and I installed a Euro plate, but IMO it looked a lot better without a front license...Euro or other. In Washington I don't have to run a front license so that was my favorite choice.

IMHO, the Mercedes was designed to run a front plate. The BMW was designed not to run a front plate.

Bob, you just need chrome buttons to fill the holes.

Or, make an under bumper plate mount (imagine this painted Matt black). Yes I need to trim a bit and adjust the angle more.

I believe the coupe would look swell with a euro plate, US plate, not so much.

Thanks Dick. They seem reasonable. I am also being forced to get a copy of my rear plate for my 635 since it is old and car won't pass inspection otherwise. Geeze, the EZ-Pass camera can read it so what's the issue. They sent me here https://www.licenseplates.tv/?match...9aTfcEkGkK6FV4Kyux_jEhRgggehfYHRoC-ZAQAvD_BwE
which is expensive, about 100 bucks.

BTW if anyone has the plate delete in my original post and want to sell, let me know.

Don't know if this helps but there is a company that makes vintage, classic and other license plates to match your state's. You send them the plate number, they create a plate to match the vintage plate of your state. PA used to have lovely violet on cream antique plate. Changed it to an ugly yellow on blue with an embossing of a bloody Model T. The PA classic plate was the same colors but in reverse. I have a couple of each in my garage.

So when I bought my 2002 I applied for a PA antique plate, got the ugly sucker and sent off for an "original". Not "legal" but impossible to tell the difference.

Bob,
You probably already have this (or know about it) but if not...

It looks like you would need #8 in this illustration...

The usual suspects appear to carry it...or easy enough to fabricate.

Dick, my inquiry was actually for my almost done E9. The Bav is stuck with a front Ma license plate and I have that bracket.

Somehow I found an E3 in 2013 with it's original owner in the town next to me. A wonderful 80 yo man who basically gave me the car because he knew I would restore it, he only had one request, that he could see it with his daughters when it was done as it was his wife's car for 40 years. That man taught me a lot.

In Ma, years back, only a rear plate was needed, the old green and white plates. Most are gone becasue if they are unreadable, you cannot pass inspection. On the E24, it is still in good shape. I still am running only the rear plate. The front plate delete just added a special touch..........

I look at it this way, front license plate vs. DOT approved flipper/bumpers. I got away with the better deal.
