I pulled a strut housing as part of a restoration and the spring had play between the spring cushions such that no compression was needed to get the thing apart. The spring has 4.5 total turns and looks like it might have been cut. There are dark red but also white paint markings on each coil. No part number I can find other than stamped 5RU73 or sRU73. The "U" may also be "11", hard to tell. Search has yielded nothing.

How many turns to a stock spring, 1973 Euro CS?
Also if I wanted to replace these with stock, which ones. There are a bunch listed in RealOem?

Original is 5 1/2 coils. Red means 827 lbs, white 857 and green 888. From the parts book, part numbers ending in 869 and 799 were cars with A/C and Modell 73. 897 and 817 were CSL and CSiL. 817 was for city pack. looks like 144 and was replaced by 322 so either of those would be correct.

Edit: looks like numbers have changed, I would go with the 143, its red.

Much appreciated. Of course the question now is to use 143 at $400 for the pair or get all four from La Jolla for the same price.
