Front Strut Assembly

When fitting the new front strut into the tube and then locking it down with the collar ring, does the collar ring end up flush against the top of the strut tube?

If so, please advise how to squeek out the last 1/8" gap btw the ring and top of tube.

No, the gap is normal, the collar tightens up on the insert not the outer strut
