Any advice or suggestions on how best to remove the front window motor/mechanism?

I'm looking to pull the front passenger window motor / gear/ arm etc out of the door in order to get at the window gearbox (where I hope by simply flipping the large internal cog and re-lubing I will fix the "slipping" problem my windows are having) but the window arm seems to make it impossible to removing the mechanism. Is there a trick to doing this?

Lower the window all the way. Unbolt the 4 10mm bolts that hold the motor/arm in place and disconnect the wires. Then once unbolted you can move the unit so the arm can come out of the regulator. It has a spring and 2 washer type things that go on either side of the window frame.

If you look at the channel at the base of the glass - the thing the roller at the tip of the arm rides along - it has a hole at one end (the forward end as I recall). As Stevehose describes, once the regulator is unbolted from the door, you can manipulate the regulator (with arm) forward till the roller can come loose through that hole. As I recall, it helps to work the motor - or manually rotate the serrated coupling - to position the arm horizontal, and lift the window to its mid-point (secure it with a spring clamp).
