I have too many projects and this one is at the bottom of the list so I am putting it up for sale.

Price: $20k
Location: Newbury NH

It has been off the road in a garage since 1970, and was originally owned by Rita Hayworth's daughter, Princess Yasmin Khan.
The story I was told by the gentleman I bought it from; She was gifted the car and she used it to drive back and forth from NYC to VT. Less than a year on the road it got sideswiped by a town truck in VT. There was only one bmw dealership in the northeast at the time, it went back to them and had the engine rebuilt out of concern something may have been damaged when it was hit. After that, it went to the body shop where the paint was stripped and body work started. The insurance agent hated foreign cars and ended up going to court with the owner and refusing to pay for the repairs any more (apparently it got pretty dramatic in the court about not wanting foreign cars in our country). The storage fees added up and eventually the shop offered to keep the car and call the bill even. The shop owner stored it in his garage until he sold it to me in 2021. I have all the court documents to back up all of this.
I have all the parts to put the car back together, some of which are NOS that were ordered but never installed.

Since the car was stored for 50 years, the rust is minimal. The only bad spots I have found are in the rear wheel wells and the hood should be replaced, it was repaired before primer and probaby trapped moisture leading to rot, everything else is solid but has surface rust or the rubber coating is peeling at the corners and surface rust underneath, but still solid and not rotted.

This car doesn't look great in primer but it is very solid and is a great starting point for a restoration as it needs very minimal body repair.

I did start it up last year and drove it out of the garage and into the storage tent it is in currently.

Manual transmission

I have a google photo album of high resolution photos of the car here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/p3c5vkkWnmoM3m4k6

I planned to do a group 5 body when I built it and have some very large BBS' that are the perfect fitment for that I am also selling if the buyer is interested

Cool story. A great project for someone who’s knows their way around an e9. FYI - The chin on this car didn’t exist until around 1973.

I thought this sounded familiar. Listed on e9 FB group in 2024. The Rita Hayworth connection stuck in my mind. Hope if finds a good home.

That car is way rustier than you describe. It's weak in a lot of places.
You can come show me where you think it's weak. I have had plenty of old rotted german cars on my lift and just replaced 50% of the sheet metal of a 911, I am quite familiar with what is solid and what is not. The photos make it look a lot worse than it is, where the rubber undercoating is peeling up, it is solid with surface rust underneath even though the photos make it looks like it's rot. Here's a spot on the frame rail before and after I hit it with a wire wheel for a couple seconds to show what I mean. I suppose there could be worse rust hidden between the pieces of metal I cannot access, but I cannot find any spots where the rust has rotted enough that I can push a steel poker though, besides the hood and two spots I noted and showed in the photos.

That photo doesn't make me feel any better. My experience with E9's is that the undercoat is extraordinarily tenacious. When it fails its usually because there is rust underneath of it. Pictures don't always tell the full story as well as being with the car, so I give you that. But the ragged edges and areas of failing undercoat are just concerning. I hope it's better than it looks.

Looks like a nice project! Original and complete car. No restoration from the ‘90 or so. I have terrible pictures of them.
Good luck with your selling
