I bought the wrong size, this is for the earlier 23.81mm master cylinder, I need the smaller one. These are currently over $150 plus shipping on back order with no eta on the BMW parts sites. I can do $100 shipped to USA, international would be at cost. Sealed in original packaging. Rebuild your master or have as a backup if you’re ocd like me!

Hi there, I am just starting to restore my 1971 3.0cs. I would like to have it but how could I tell what size my master cylinder is?

I had trouble with two aftermarket rebuild kits I purchased when I did mine. Seals has turned to mush; they had obviously been on a shelf somewhere for a very long time. Recommend skipping that step and going straight to BMW parts.

If you have the thin pancake brake booster this will fit, if you have the bigger brake booster, you need the smaller one like me, right @HB Chris ?

Cool thanks. I'm on the road today, but will be back online this evening to manage anything that comes together

FYI, I used a special seal installer to put the piston with seals back into the body of the master cylinder. This made it easy and reduced the chance of damaging a seal. This was RHD, so may be slightly more complex than LHD.

The seal installer was a machined sleeve that tapered and fitted nicely into the body of the master cylinder. I borrowed it the BMW U.K. car club.

Ok, help, this is what I have, see attached pictures. Is this considered the thin pancake booster

My '73 3.0CS had the larger bore (23.8). I just rebuilt it as well. I made a homemade, one-time use "funnel" to install the piston assembly and not damage the seals. This is a nice find!
