Beyond beautiful leather recovered 380mm Petri steering wheel. I acquired this Petri back in 2007 and it has been used sparingly since. It has been stored in my garage most of this time.
This leather Petri contains the original rubber/foam core, original correct 3 ring hub with aftermarket horn contact ring, original Petri hub plastic cover/shroud, original Petri horn button and 6 hole black mounting ring. Overall, imo, it’s a 9.5/10 wheel.
$2000 shipped in the lower 48 states. I would prefer not to ship internationally as shipping cost would be in the $300-400 range. But, I could accommodate if buyer is willing to accept the expensive shipping and customs duty cost. On a $2k item, the duty fees could be quite high.
I‘ll break down every individual part/parts of this Petri as follows.
Recovered leather grip: Nice fine grain steering wheel leather. Actual black vs some of the other black/gray color that is used sometimes. Stitching is in the baseball style vs the preferred basting CSL stitching style. The leather grip is tight and taut with the rubber/foam core being much stiffer that most other Petri wheels, which can be soft and squishy. The leather tapered grips on the spokes are nicely ”tucked” in between the spokes and the leather vs the the more traditional style of cut leather edges where they are stitched and glued onto the spokes. There is one small flaw with the stitching on the lower spoke. Somehow, the front vertical stitching is skewered slightly to the left and on the backside, the stitching and the cut of the leather is off center. Not a really big deal, but it is a flaw which prevents it from being almost perfect. The spokes are in great original looking condition with a nice patina sheen. Also, there no appearance of it being highly polished or modified/repaired. The backside of the spokes also appears in factory stock condition. 9/10c
PetrI alloy hub and plastic cover: Excellent undamaged condition original BMW (109738.1) hub. Polished up real nicely. There is some small customary surface rust spots inside the interior of steel hub. Mounted with a new aftermarket horn contact ring from Europe. Undamaged and crack free black plastic cover which as the Petri logo imprinted on the inside. 9.5/10.
Horn button and 6 hole mounting ring: Perfect oem Petri/BMW horn button with no imperfections on the outside or inside of unit. Could be a new old stock. 10/10. Black steel mounting ring fee of nicks and chips. 9.5/10. Finally, a set of 6 alloy hex screws (no tooth washers) which could be easily swap to phillips screws if one desires.
This is definitely one of the most pristine Petri steering wheels that I’ve ever owned.
